Project comprises of construction of road works using full depth cold in place recycling method. Recycling shall be done in various stages continuously without any gap, namely: recycling, compaction using sheep foot roller, leveling and compaction with steel roller, micro cracking and curing.

This project completed while the plant was in operation and the work completed in 40 days.

•    Cold in place recycling has been determined as most effective and environmental friendly solution vs. conventional methods in which the following principal goals will be met:

•    Higher quality and longer life durability. 

•    Minimum 50% saving on construction time. 

•    Life cost effective solution. 

•    Major saving on human and machinery depreciation.

•     Non destruction on natural resources. 

•    100% saving the existing road materials (recycling)

•    Less disruption in traffic flow.

•    Less material transportation, hence less damage to the existing roads.

The Truck lane of Emirates Road, E611, was severly damaged due to the excess load and the employer wants us to provide a technically sound and commercially compatible solution to rectify the road in the stretch of 16 KM.

The Cold in Place Asphalt Recycling along with two layers of asphalt while the wearing course was designed for PMB was proposed, and after approval was implemented in the summer of 2019.

The project consists of the followings:

• Implementaton of Safety and Traffic Diversion and Tarffic control plan.
• Milling of 120mm of the existing asphalt,
• cold in place recycling of the remaining asphalt and aggregate road base and sub base to the thickness of 250mm,
• leveling and compaction of the recycled materail in place.

• Longitudinal and transverse Joint Preparation. 
• Laying and compaction of 70mm of AC base course,
• Applying of tack Coat
• Laying and compaction of PMB Wearing Course.

The section of the road which was fully damaged is slected by RMS specialist and the Consultant AECOM to be upgraded using Cold in Place Asphalt Recycling. 

The Area was divided in 4 segments, segment one and segment two were done as full depth reconstruction using conventional method, segment one, with 200mm sub base, 150mm road base 70mm AC base course and 50mm AC wearing course. the second segment was done full depth construction , with 200mm sub base, 150mm wetmix, 70mm base course High Modulus Asphalt EME  and 50mm Betoflex wearing course. The third and the fouth segments done using cold in place asphalt recycling, with 250mm cement stabilized road base, and for segent three, 70mm BC and 50mm Polymer Modified bitumen asphalt wearing couse, and the forth segment done with 70mm BC and 50mm AC wearing course. The EME and Betoflex  asphalt is lisenced by AFC.
